The parent is special because the child is special. The child becomes responsible for the parents feelings of self-worth.

It is important for parents to disentangle their egos from their parenting. As soon as the umbilical cord is cut, children begin their own journey through life and even though hands on, attentive parenting is vital to their growth, children deserve to own both their disappointments and successes. Parents are then able to comfort, encourage, applaud, feel pride and express love.

Taking parenting personally can also make parenting much harder. Unable or unwilling to see the child realistically, the parent misses what skills, manners and behaviors need work, and then the parent gets frustrated and confused when the child acts out. "But my child is gifted, why is he unable to potty train? I must be a bad mother."

Recently a very well known parenting expert was quoted in the New York Times, "The thing about toddlers is that they are uncivilized," Dr. Karp says. "Our job is to civilize them, to teach them to say please and thank you, don't spit and scratch and don't pee anywhere you want. These are the jobs you have with a toddler."

To a parent who has their ego enmeshed with their toddler, the Dr.'s insight above would be terribly offensive and even hurtful. Instead of saying, "Yes, that is exactly what I am experiencing with my toddler, and I am really enjoying helping my toddler to become civilized," she says, "How dare he say that my child is uncivilized." The mother is unable to actually see that the Dr.'s statement is not a personal attack, he is saying that her role is vital and it is okay to have a child who doesn't understand proper social skills, and with her unconditional love and training the child will learn.

Being objective and establishing appropriate boundaries with offspring is an important step towards not allowing ego to get wrapped up in the child. "Helicopter Parents" or parents who hover, are very inappropriately involved with their, often, adult children and have skewed the division between themselves and their child.

For example, it has become commonplace for parents to come to the defense of their children who have been given a low grade or have been reprimanded by a teacher. Their ego is damaged when their child needs correcting, and in response they bristle and challenge the professional. The term "helicopter parenting" has been coined to describe these hovering parents.

A true but unbelievable example of "helicopter parenting" happened at a large insurance agency. The father of a smart, well educated and capable, twenty-five year old woman, called her boss to discuss her job performance. Weeks later this same young woman missed a flight to a meeting she was supposed to take with her boss. He understandingly told her that she should go straight to the office and work. Instead she took an 8 hour train ride to the city to try to attend the meeting anyway. When questioned why she did not go back to the office as she was instructed, she responded, "My mother told me that I had to go to the meeting."

Parenting without ego helps develop healthy self esteem in kids. Children experience their parent's unconditional love and feel valued for who they are and not what they succeed at. When parents allow their children to be their own people instead of an extension of themselves, children begin to take responsibility for their own decisions, likes and dislikes, good and bad behavior and choices. Establishing appropriate boundaries between parent and child helps the child become autonomous and independent and not feel pressured to excel in the hopes that their parents will feel fulfilled.

Recently I took on a new SEO client who had a major problem. They had a very popular portal site in a competitive industry but for 3 months running, their Top 10 search engine rankings for major keywords had taken a consistent dive. The position drops ranged from 1 or 2 places up to 20 places. They hired me to try and address the issue quickly because their advertising revenue relied on the top 10 visibility of their brand in the SERPs.

I looked for the usual suspects, a Google penalty, dodgy code, hidden text, new competitors, 404 errors, keyword stuffing, fast acquisition of links, domain issues, major hosting outages, over-optimization and code bloat. Nothing - the site checked out clean. There had been a major Google algorithm update in the past 6 months, but that had occurred weeks earlier to the downward trend. So then I asked about the design history and if any major changes had been made a week or so prior to the sudden ranking drop. The client couldn't recall any major changes so I went about the business of improving the site as best I could and integrating a link building campaign to obtain links from high quality sites in the same industry.

But I couldn't shake the idea that there must have been some major change to the site that impacted its previously ideal search engine compatibility. So I asked for the site's log files for the past 6 months and imported them into ClickTracks for a closer look. I discovered that the site showed a solid growth in traffic starting in February and continuing until April. It was attracting the most traffic on April 5 and then it suddenly plummeted. The logs didn't reveal much else, except record keyword referrals for the period, followed by record lows.

It was then that the little light bulb above my head switched on. I could use the Internet Archive to see what the site looked like on those dates! If you aren't already familiar with the Internet Archive (affectionately known as the Wayback Machine), it's an online repository of web sites in historical timeline format so you can see what web sites looked like on different dates in their history. Check out Wikipedia's front page design from 2001 - http://web.archive.org/web/20010727112808/http:/www.wikipedia.org/ It's fun, and a little embarrassing, to see what certain web sites looked like many years ago.

So I pulled copies of the client's home page from the archive for the date range that coincided with the major spike and fall and studied the HTML code of each carefully. When I compared them, I saw one glaring difference. The older version contained keyword-rich link titles for the main navigation area while the later version didn't. The links were still there, but the link title attributes were not and a quick check of the client's current home page HTML showed they were still missing. It turns out that the web designer had inadvertently removed them during an update without realizing and never replaced them.

Because the navigation area consisted of a large number of untitled links, the result was a drop in the home page keyword density for the client's major target keywords, allowing their competitors with higher density to push them down the SERPs. I presented my discovery to the client and they were somewhat relieved to have an explanation at last. The link titles were reinstated and the client's rankings have been climbing back ever since.

The whole experience got me thinking: the Wayback Machine is really the SEOs secret weapon. It's Back to the Future SEO! Here are just some ways SEOs could use it:

1) To spot major HTML coding changes on your own sites or client sites that may have impacted rankings (as per my case study).

2) To study the design and HTML history of your client's sites and their competitors.

3) To spot if a web site has been optimized in the past.

4) To study the design and HTML history of the web sites belonging to your major SEO competitors.

5) To spot if a web site has used dodgy optimization tactics in the past.

6) To see what keywords your competitors targeted in the past versus the ones they now target.

7) To compare design and usability changes made over the years by big brand sites (and imitate them).

8) To rescue HTML code and images for sites that have been hacked or wiped without back-ups in place.

9) To track content duplication or copyright violations where the site owner has already removed the offending material.

10) To check the true age of a web site and see if it has been used for a different purpose or company in the past.

These are just uses I came up with from the top of my head, but I'm sure there are plenty more. Some of these uses are not SEO specific, but useful to webmasters in general and particularly to persons looking to buy an existing domain.

Then there are the fun uses - embarrassing your mates by emailing them a copy of their old site complete with frames and blinking graphics. Having a laugh at the first designs rolled out by some of the major search engines. The possibilities are endless.

When is the last time you heard someone say, "Well, if you don't have your health what do you have?" Can you relate to this sentiment? Can you take this sentiment to heart and embrace it? Maybe, for the rest of your life?

We all know and understand the idea that you can have all the money in the world; or, the perfect relationship; or, the perfect house - but, if you don't have your health to go with it, that you may not be able to enjoy whatever it is that is so perfect. So, what's the real message here? It's simply to begin putting your health and fitness higher up on your list of priorities so that you don't find yourself one day not able to enjoy what you have worked so hard your whole life for. And, by higher up on your list I mean very close to the top!

But, I can hear your objections now. I don't have the time to do any more than what I am doing now. This obligation is more important. My boss won't understand. My family needs me now. And, on and on. Look, you can give me all of the reasons in the world but you and I both know that your current situation is merely a manifestation of every decision that you have made up to this point, right? Even if you were not able to control certain things (e.g. disease that struck a relative, etc.) you still were not totally left with absolutely no control. So, your current situation, for the most part, is really just a result of past decisions that you have made. Well, if that is the case then don't you think that you can begin to reverse your current situation by controlling your decisions going forward? Of course you can. You know it. And, I know it. No excuses.

Look at it like this peoples - you can give up control, but never responsibility for your life. It does not matter what is happening, who is in your life, or what you are going through - in the end, whether you choose to take the reins and take control of your life or not, you, and only you, are stuck with the consequences of your decisions. Period!

So, if you don't want that future scenario to happen to you - do something about it! Talk to a trusted friend about it. Just don't tell me you don't have time. Make the time and do it now!

This is going to "jolt" you- because it says "not true" to many of your cherished beliefs.

Are you familiar with the acronym WYSIWYG?

It stands for "what you see is what you 'get'!"

Consider this: So strange at first, quantum physics is suggesting there is no reality until it is perceived reality. That is, no event is possible, until an observer (you) is present to perceive it (i.e., see or think it).

Stay with me, please.

Now consider this: As a portion of Universal or God Consciousness by birth, you are an individualized consciousness; a co-creator. We all are. Without recognizing it, you project outward what you perceive, i.e. see or think, which attracts and creates matching physical life experiences.

WYSIWYG!

Now listen: Somewhere along the line you've probably said to yourself, "I wonder where the 'real action' is in life?"

I know. I know. The real action appears to be in the life circumstances you presently are focusing on and as a consequence, experiencing.

Not so! You see, the real action is generated by the intensity of your thoughts and feelings, which you author internally, and as a consequence, experience externally. In quantum physics, nothing solid (collapsing of waves) appears or is experienced, until it is perceived. Therefore, what you deliberately and intentionally focus on (perceive), is what you get.

Plain and simple: Life is an inside/out job. What you think and feel is what you create.

Each day, care to guess who gets to focus attention on choosing good- or bad-feeling thoughts and the identical events they attract and create in your life?

YOU. That's who!

So, who do you believe is to blame for misusing their power as a conscious co-creator?

That's why life is not about finding yourself. Undeniably, it's about creating yourself. If, for example, you don't perceive or see wellness as a possibility, this is what you will get-a lack of wellness.

The thing is, if you choose to perceive (intensely focus on) NOT getting through a health, relationship, job, family or financial crisis, it's not ever likely to happen!

Not a single person avoids the consequences of their thoughts. Indeed, thoughts that go around, come around as life experiences. Truly,

It is done unto you as you think, believe, expect and feel.

Here's something you might find useful to ask yourself: "What toxic thoughts are a constant presence in my life?" Well, good people, rest assured that whatever they are, they will come back to you as life experiences.

Since "like attracts like," the "Eureka Moment" to controlling your own destiny is taking it upon yourself to realize,

Your thoughts are real(ity).

Anyway, if you don't get that major life-transforming lesson, you're going to keep getting it until you get it.

Okay. Since you experience in life what you focus energy on, it seems pretty evident that what changing the negative circumstances in your life is all about is taking a quick journey to the center of your toxic thoughts and feelings. Not only that, it's jumping on the following opportunities:

#1: Learning to manipulate the energy of your thoughts and feelings into physical reality, knowing that the life events you experience each day are a reliable replica of your inner reality.

#2: Knowing you are here to get an unclouded picture of your inner reality (thoughts and feelings) by taking a hard look at the outer circumstances they have formed.

#3: Recognizing the events that you see (perceive) as real life experiences are separate from you, instead of the consequences of your own inner thoughts and feelings. (Yes! It's going outside to "see" the thoughts you've created inside--that you need to part ways with-- which is easy enough to uncover. All you have to do is answer "yes" or "no" to this one single question: "Do you feel your present thoughts and feelig are empowering or disempowering you?"

#4: Learning that events such as ill health, poor relationships, financial difficulties, and the like, are projections of self-limiting thoughts and feelings outward that form parallel physical events.

#5: Recognizing that as a conscious co-creator, you have a very definite purpose, or you would not be in physical reality.

In brief, you are a spiritual being having a physical experience. You are here to adventurously learn to transform mental energy into events you choose to experience. And, until you learn that the world is a mental construction, you will continue to construct events you do not want to experience.

The nature of inner reality is telling you that you form counterparts of your thoughts and feelings. Therefore,

In all of life, you don't get what you deserve.

You get what you think; what you consciously concentrate on.

An aside: Try thinking on a daily basis as if your life actually depends on your state of mind. You soon will discover that what you think about or focus on, sets off precise vibrations of energy, which is picked up by the Law of Attraction (Law of Polarity) which operates much like the Law of Gravity.

What's that? Are you thinking: "That which is like unto itself is drawn."

Good thinking.

Also, my friend, if your inner climate is dwelling or focusing on past wounds, The Law of Attraction is always at work since it consistently responds to all vibrations, good or bad-almost effortlessly propelling them into the future. What's more, the cells in your body feel precisely the way you are thinking and respond accordingly. That is to say: What your thoughts vibrate, you attract and physically experience.

Let's take a moment to talk about the answer to altering a particular negative life circumstance. It seems a bit surreal, but I can guarantee you'll be amazed to see clear and convincing evidence that the Law of Attraction is working, if, immediately,

You change your focus,

the thoughts and feelings you are projecting outward!

Make it a point, if something is disturbing you, to withdraw the energy of your focus from it. Does quickly changing your focus work? Do seat belts save lives? I'll let you decide for yourself. What you're going to electrifying discover is this:

Your reality is formed by the intensity of your thoughts and expectations.

For example, you bring into existence the fears you perceive.

This is why I implore you to give the following sentences serious thought:

You cannot create any event outside the boundaries

of your self-limiting belief system. To do so, you need

to step outside the framework of your self-limiting beliefs.

And, what that demands is:

Enlarging your definition of what you believe is possible in life.

For enlightenment to strike, what you need to recognize is that the combination of what you vividly visualize and feel, actually create your life experiences; the events that enter your life. You need to FEEL the full extent of what you're visualizing. For example, if you want to be healthy, you need to not only believe and intensely visualize your goal, but sense strongly what it would FEEL like to be this way. Moreover, envision what you want as instantly materializing, all the while adding a high degree of expectancy. "Know" definitely that what you focus on, you will get.

There is a catch.

No one can do this for you. All this is just talk until you practice what can be titled, The Art of Reality Formation. Remember now: The universe is observer-created and thought-responsive. For that reason, what change entails is, turning around a diseased belief system. It takes stretching yourself beyond that which you presently think and feel is "realistic."

And what will happen if you choose to do this?

You'll "get" the bargain of a lifetime.

One fine day, you'll suddenly think to yourself, "I can't remember the last time I felt so good. Each day, in every way, I can actually feel the power of creation vibrating inside me. Challenges that once felt so enormous, that I concentrated so much negative energy on, no longer are a presence. Finally, I can see that if I change the way I perceive things, the things I perceive will change?"

And, so it will!

If you go to Google and type in "define:intelligence", you will get a number of definition of intelligence ranging from spying to a TV series and magazines names. However the definition that's relevant to this article is provided by Wikipedia and I reproduced it below.

"Intelligence is a property of mind that encompasses many related mental abilities, such as the capacities to reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, comprehend ideas and language, and learn. ..."

Hence intelligence is a mental process and most of the time we relate it to solving complex mathematical problems. In fact the ability to do that is but just one form of intelligence. There are at least 10 categories of intelligence and these are presented below.

1. Logical-Mathematical

It is the ability to understand shifting argument and to see and break down the relationship between variables of the argument using logical mathematical intelligence. People with this form of intelligence are good in arguments, solving mathematical problems and debating.

How Young Should A Child Start To Specialize In A Sport?

It is a fact that the age at which a young person reaches their peak in sport, is getting lower. This again does depend greatly on the particular sport involved as some sports such as swimming and tennis; the youngster participating certainly is quite young.

However, that being said, in an analysis of tennis players in recent years showed the average age of boys and girls to be higher than would have been expected. Boys were in the region of 24 and girls 22.

If we look at men's tennis in particular, we have a number of up and coming good players in the 20 - 24 age group - but the number one in both ladies and men's is higher than the average.

What constitutes specializing in any sport? To become an elite person in any sport takes 10,000 hours of training and practice, this constitutes 3 hours per day for 10 years, therefore, if we are looking at someone achieving success at 24, they would have to be training and practicing since they were 14 or younger.

They bodies running sport want the juniors to be competing fairly regularly by the time they reach 10 years old and this pre-supposes they started playing the sport at 6 - 7 years old. They say that at 10, if a child is going to make it in the sport, they should be playing at least 3 times a week!

Important aspect to consider:

1/. A good sports basis is to include cross training, such as basketball for a tennis player.

2/. School work should mot be jeopardized.

3/. A child body is developing continuously throughout their pre-teens and in the early teens, so they should not do weight training, a little is O.K. if properly supervised.

4/. Correct, balanced training taking into account both side of the body.

BUT - the most important point in all of this is what the child wants to do and not what the parent or coach wants the child to accomplish. Fair enough, there has to be a slight area of challenge from the coach and a good coach will know how to do this in the player's best interest.

At the end of the day, we will find the odd child who from an early age will be dedicated and completely focused on the sport of their choice. This is however, a rarity and unfortunately they won't necessarily get to the top of their chosen sport.

It is interesting to note here, that Tim Henman was not the best of the squad when he was young, but went on to surpass all of the others in his group.

In the U.K. there is a great deal of competition amongst all of the sports to get hold of the best juniors, and it is generally found that someone who is good at one sport is also good at a number of other sports. The junior will ultimately choose the path that suits them. What we do find in this scenario, is that an out standing player will suddenly appear on the scene and will be a world-beater viz Seb Coe, Ian Black, etc.

So at the end of the day - it is up to the child as to when they want to start specializing, the coach can only advise them.

Strategic Influence - Packing An Ethical Persuasive Punch!

If one Googles the phrase "Strategic Influence" we see literally thousands of references to a controversial department of the Pentagon established by the US in the advent of the war in Iraq which has since been disbanded. In contrast the humble program designed several years ago for AIM has arguably less 'reach' .... but is still running.

More and more those working for organisations realize the critical importance of being able to wield personal power and the eroded impact and acceptability of positional power in all but a few select (aka military or emergency services) organisations, and even then, only when they are responding to 'crisis'. This has partly occurred because of the generational shift in the workplace and the fact that many employees left home in their 20's so that no one would tell them what to do anymore. But it is also because much of what an organization has to do these days to earn true competitive and sustainable advantage revolves around values and culture, ethics and social conscience which are all intangible 'soft' aspects of business. One can't force attitudinal change in the way one can rationalize a product line.

A discussion of strategic influence, namely the very deliberate joining of two words, must firstly be precipitated by a discussion on influence and its uneasy bedfellow, manipulation. It could be argued that both are underpinned by intent, utilize power, both have impact on relationships, both can get results and both can generate choices in the recipient of the respective influence or the manipulation. However influence is more likely to involve the sharing of complete and balanced information that affords "effective choice", utilities persuasive power rather than coercive power, tends to engender ownership, not resentment or manipulations best case scenario, forced compliance.

I have a confession to make. We are tragics of the hit series "24" at our place. Six seasons later, what is the extraordinary enduring appeal of the character Jack Bauer that goes beyond the action-packed style of the show and its real time competitive advantage? He faces moral dilemmas, as the singularly focussed operative, who has blinding clarity about the outcomes he needs to achieve ( a few hours to save LA) and a situational context that somehow makes torture permissible to viewing audiences in their millions.

Yes, there is a good dose of coercive power but he is totally transparent regarding his intent with the bad guy protagonist ("You have information we need and I'm going to get it"), provides the rationale ("Otherwise thousands of innocent people will die") and gives the person an explicit choice ("Tell me what I need to know or I'll hurt you"). Could any organisation employ the same communication tactics to get the job done and ever be regarded as an employer of choice? I think not. The context relevant to the Counter Terrorist Unit in LA somehow makes his actions credible, at least for the viewer, if not, perhaps, for the bad guy!

So might some say there are times when the end justifies the means? Ethically speaking, in our lines of work, that doesn't hold. Strategically? If one considers that rarely in life is anything a one-shot deal, then coercive persuasion and its evil twin manipulation are risky because of the likely adverse impact on the relationship assuming the 'manipulatee' catches on. The manipulatee is likely to feel any/all of "mad", "sad" "bad" or "had".

Predictably I am advocating for influence over manipulation although there are times as a parent when I need to put my glasses on to see the very fine (read as imperceptible!) line between a threat and a logical consequence. I am sure to the child they are often one and the same and I am left to rationalize that it was my intent (ie what was in my head, agent of change or axe murderer) that dictates the difference. Thus even when intent is pure, perception counts for much.

Perhaps you are sold on the idea that influence is the way to go. The reality is that we are only one half of the influence transaction and as long as we are not Tom Hanks living on an island with only a Wilson volleyball for company, then the reaction of different parties; possessing different needs, personalities and values will be variable. Effective influence requires behavioural and communication flexibility.

What is perhaps a little daunting, even onerous, is that even if we've committed to influence over manipulation as a way of life, and recognized the critical importance of shared value and behavioral dexterity, influence must still have a purpose. Thus strategic influence involves the consideration of context and the pursuit of premeditated outcomes, sometimes the use of frameworks/tools eg. gatekeeper analysis strategy that informs a strategic approach, rather than adopting a simple position on something and trying to beat or wear down the other party. Yes, when we attempt to persuade we are trying to create movement in the other person and that may involve espousing evidence, selling benefits and establishing the correct emotional match with the audience. Being purposeful however separates the expert persuader from the good communicator.

So context, situational versatility and purposeful pursuit of outcomes are what characterise Strategic Influence. However those elite persuaders who, along with the agreements they strike, endure, do so because they have found an exquisite balance between the ongoing relationship with the other party, the respect for choice and genuine empowerment and the outcomes they seek to achieve. In aspiring for that balance they know that long after they have left the room, their impact is felt in the genuine commitment of people around them to achieve what they on their own, could not.

How to Build Lean Muscle at a Mind Blowing Rate

What is the most important thing you can do at the gym to ensure that you will continually build lean muscle?

It's very simple. The most important thing you can do each and every single time you go to the gym if you want to build muscle is to try to set a PR (personal record) on every lift you do. That's it. What this means is that you should always be trying do either do more reps with the same weight (within reason, any sets above 12 on most upper body exercises and 15-20 reps on lower body exercises will do nothing to stimulate muscle growth) or more weight for the same number of reps. Doing the same thing that you have done in a previous workout will do absolutely nothing to help you build lean muscle. The first time you apply a new stress to the body it will adapt by building itself up bigger and stronger. But when it faces that exact same stress again the next time, it will be prepared for it and thus will not adapt again. This is why you have to go up in either weight or reps and try to set a new PR.

Powerlifters and weightlifters continually try to set PR's in contests. They also do this in training by testing their one rep maxes every few weeks or months. But setting PR's does not have to be relegated to singles. You should try to set six rep PR's, ten rep PR's and twenty rep PR's. If you are really serious about your desire to build lean muscle, you always have to be improving. To do this you have to keep detailed records of everything you do in a training journal and always look back at it so you have a goal to shoot for at every workout and on every set you do.

If you really want to build lean muscle, no set should ever be done without the goal of setting a PR. The only exceptions are prehab exercises and times when you are rehabbing from an injury. If you continually try to set PR's on everything you do it gives your workout a much greater purpose and meaning. Not only that but it is a thousand times more fun than just mindlessly going through the motions trying to get a pump. Suddenly your workout becomes something that has quantifiable results that can be measured each and every single time you set foot in the gym. What could be more motivating than that? Chasing PR's also eliminates all the useless junk volume that most people end up doing after they have finished their main exercises.

Even if you start your workout with big exercises like chin ups and military presses and set new eight rep PR's on those, it doesn't mean that when you get to the little exercises and the end like hammer curls and pushdowns that should forget the principle and just do whatever it takes to get a pump. On the contrary, you should still be trying to set a new eight, ten or twelve rep PR on both of those exercises as well.

Forget about adding more sets, decreasing your rest periods and supersetting for a while because none of those approaches will ever help you build lean muscle at a mind blowing rate. If you want to build muscle fast there are a few very important factors you need to be aware of. First of all, if you have less than Herculean genetics you need to be sure to avoid overtraining. There are several different ways to do this which are listed below.

• Don't do more than 12-15 sets per workout.

• Don't train for longer than an hour.

• Don't train more than four days per week; three days is even better.

• Don't train for more than 8-12 weeks without taking a week off.

On sunny days let the sunshine warm up your home. At night close all blinds and drapes. Try closing heavy velvet curtains across your screen doors at night. Glass radiates in a lot of coldness!

How to Properly Evict a Tenant

There is nothing more frustrating as a landlord, at least to me anyway, when the first of the month rolls around and the rent doesn't show up. You wait a few days and it still doesn't arrive. You put a phone call into your tenant, and you get excuses ranging from, "I am a little behind this month, I will have it out as soon as possible" to "I sent, didn't you get it?". As if had you did receive it, you have nothing else better to do then call your tenant for money they don't owe you.

It is very frustrating, but the sad reality is, no matter how great the homework you do and initial screening of your tenant, you just can't predict what they will do with the money they make. Nor will anyone ever understand why they case of beer of carton of cigarettes they go through everyweek is more important than keeping a roof over their head.

So the time has come for you to begin the eviction proceedings. It is not that difficult of a process when done correctly. The key words there are "done correctly". When done by the way by which your state has defined the laws for the process, it will be smooth. You do it incorrectly and you may have a tenant living there for a long time with no obligation to pay their rent.

Below I am going to give my steps I take to evict a tenant. If you feel uncomfortable doing this, I recommend hiring an attorney in your area that specializes in this. The cost will be higher than if you did it yourself, but if piece of mind is more important than standing in front of a judge, then hire an attorney.

The first thing you want to do is make sure your lease clearly outlines the date by which you must receive the rent, and you must stick to that date. There is no give here. If the lease says it must be in your hand by the first of the month, then it needs to be in your hand by the first of the month. The second day is considered late and late fees will apply.

I normally wait 3 days from the due date to send out my eviction notice letter. This is a letter that states in the utmost professional language, that I have not received their rent payment, and that if I do not receive it by the 15th of the month, the eviction process will begin. All of this is also outlined in the lease, but I put it in writing again as it will carry more weight in court when you show the judge you gave them a chance to make due what they owe.

You will need to check the laws in your area to see what the proper statutes are for the eviction process. In my location you can file immediately, however I know in other areas you have to wait 45 days. Check with your local county courthouse or housing department.

If the tenant does not respond by the 15th with what they owe, and anything less than what is due in full is not acceptable, go down to the courthouse in the town where your property is located and fill out the paperwork to begin the legal process. They will help you through it in making sure it is filled out properly, or at least they should. The cost to file is usually around $25, but it may be more or less depending upon where you live.

Once that is filed, you should receive in the mail a notice as to when your court date is so the judge will hear both sides. Your tenant will receive this same notification, and going by what I have seen in my area, the court doesn't care if the tenant or the landlord receives the letter. Your date is set and both parties are to be there. Should you not show (in my area anyway), the judge dismisses the case. If the tenant does not show, an judgment for the landlord is given and you can begin the next step in removing the tenant.

Once the court appearance has finished and you receive a judgment in your favor to legally remove the tenant, you will be instructed as to what the next step will be. Usually it is filing the paperwork with at the county courthouse to have your local sheriff's department remove the tenant. When the paperwork is filed, the sheriff will post an orange or some bright sign on the door letting the tenant know of the exact date they must move out.

If the tenant still resides in the property after that date, you will then go to the property with the Sheriff's department and they will be removed by them. Do not touch, harm or threaten the tenant. Doing this may cause you to start this process all over again. The sheriff is there for a reason. Let them do their jobs. They are really good at it.

Now that the tenant has been legally removed, the property is yours once again. Read my other article if they leave items in the house. You can not just simply throw them away. There is a legal process for that as well.

An eviction can and will go smoothly if you follow all of necessary steps and do it properly. Once you go through the process once, it becomes much easier. Hopefully you won't have to do it too often, or if luck is on your side, at all.

10 Steps to a Winning Dating Profile Headline

When you post a profile on an online dating site, there are three parts that viewers will see: your picture, your headline, and your profile. Each one serves a distinct purpose, but in my opinion, the picture and the headline are the most important.

Research shows that you only have 5 seconds to grab someone's attention.

People are superficial and we are drawn to things that catch our attention. I have previously written about the importance of your written profile and how you should focus on it when starting out. I firmly stand by that, but if you can't get someone to click onto it to read it, it won't matter what you write.

Think about articles you read in a paper or magazine. What is it that usually draws you in? It's the headline and the picture. Many a great article has been written and never read because the headline doesn't draw people in.

I want to focus on creating a great headline for your online dating profile. Here are a few tips that you should focus on.

1. Keep it between 3-7 words. Anything longer than that tends to lose the reader.

2. Avoid Clichés. The goal is to come up with something unique and original. You want to differentiate yourself from all the others. Take a stroll around your dating site and take a tally of how many times you see the following:

Looking for Mrs. Right
Looking for My Knight in Shining Amour
I can't believe I'm doing this
This isn't something I'd normally do

Using a headline like these just want set you apart from others.

3. Avoid negativity. Portray a positive image in your headline. Although you may be LonleyLady or LookingForLove, you don't need to announce it. It implies you're a weak person, and many will avoid people they see as weak.

4. Incorporate your hobbies or interests. This headline is supposed to tell others something about you. What better way to do that than to come up with a quick snippet of what you like to do. Feel free to use your college, favorite sports team, restaurant, or local hang out in the title.

Here's a few examples:

Meet me at Starbucks?
Join me for a Walk on the Beach...
Small Talk & a bottle of Merlot. Interested?
Steeler Fan Looking for a Tailgating buddy
Let's Go Ride our Harley's

5. Pick a song lyric or a line from a movie.

"Some people call me a Space Cowboy..."

6. Unless you are joining an "adult" site, avoid all sexual innuendo. If it's sex you're selling, those are the only responses you'll get back.

7. Feel free to switch it up. Come up with a couple different headlines and change them every few weeks. Keep track of which ones work best and get rid of the ones that don't.

8. As with everything in your profile, make sure that you spell everything correctly. If you're not sure how to spell a word, then just don't use it. Otherwise, make sure to look it up in an online dictionary.

9. Avoid Capitals. In the online world, using all capitals is considered "yelling" and is considered to be rude behavior.

10. Use (...) to end your headline. I've done a lot of research on headlines and my success rate is twice as high when I end a phrase with (...). That's three dots. It gives the reader the impression that there is more to the story, but they need to click to find out more. What have you got to lose.
